#1 What is SEO and How it Works? On-Page SEO Checklist Introduction
Here I am giving the short and direct definition of What is SEO and How it Works?
SEO, as most of the people knows, stands for Search Engine Optimisation.
It is a technique to improve the search appearance of your brand name on the various Search Engines Like Google, Bing, and Yahoo. In other words, it is a practice of increasing the quantity of search traffic to your website through organic search results.
You can find many more definitions of What is Seo? But this is the actual and direct definition of SEO.
How SEO Works? How to do SEO?
Search Engines like Google crawls your website/blogs and check all the required things to get found in the Google Search Results. The Webmaster Google tool tells you the health of your website.
Many various bots, robots, crawlers start crawling your websites and then generate a report on the basis of crawling.
We have basically two methods of SEO,
- White Hat SEO
- Black Hat SEO
I personally suggest you ONLY USE WHITE HAT SEO. White Hat SEO means you are only working according to the guidelines of Search Engines. You are not violating the Standards and Policies of the Search Engine to Get a Higher Rank on Search Results.
On the other hand, Black Hat SEO means You are breaking and violating the predefined rules and regulation of search engines to get a higher rank on google.
Black Hat SEO Techniques include Keyword Stuffing, Paid Backlinks, and Link Building. If anyone uses the Black Hat SEO Techniques then Google Bots list them in blacklists and never gets more traffic on Google and same for other Search Engines also.
#2 Types of SEO
There are basically two types of SEO:
- On-Page SEO
- OFF-Page SEO
On-Page SEO: On-Page SEO is an SEO Technique in which we try hard enough to optimize our pages within our website.
All the practices, measures, and techniques that can be directly taken on our website to improve the search ranking in Search Results. The things we consider here are title tags, Slug, Heading H1 and H2, meta description and many more things.
Off-Page SEO Techniques: Off-Page SEO is the practice of doing things to rank higher on search results away/outside from your websites.
Off-Page SEO happens outside the site. In this techniques what we do is Build Backlinks, Guest Posting and Submitting Articles on Forums and Web Directories.
#3 Why we Need SEO Services? Benefits of SEO Techniques
We need to do SEO for the purpose of gaining a huge amount of Organic Traffic on Search Engines. When we will succeed in gaining a lot of visitors on our blog and website, then obviously we will be able to earn enough amount of money through Adsense.
Apart from Adsense, you can sell your products also, that will also be the best method to earn money.
The Advantage of Doing SEO are:
- A tonne of Organic Traffic
- More Visitors = More Money
- Your Brand Name Awareness
- Domain Authority will be increased
- More People Will give backlinks to your Article.
On-Page SEO Checklist: Factors that Actually Works
Believe me guys, you will love these tactics of On-Page SEO. So let’s look at the first one.
#1. Use TARGETED KEYWORD within first 100 Words
You must use your “targeted keyword” in the first 100-150 word of your Article.
When Google Crawlers, crawls your article then it will be easy for the bots, crawlers to understand the topic, content of your page. Further, your article is easily understood by the Crawlers, now your article is in a better position to get a higher rank.
See, I have used my Main Keyword in the Second paragraph here,
So it is a good Practice If you use your main/targeted keyword in the first paragraph or in first 100-150 words.
#2. Use Only 1 H1 tag
Write your Post Title using a H1 tag. Or H1 tag is your “headline tag”.
See My POST TITLE here:
You must write your Post title with the help of a H1 tag. WordPress automatically adds up your Post Title in the “h1 tag”. But you must check your theme if you are not using WordPress. You sometimes have to do manually.
This technique also adds up much power in Good SEO.
#3. Short & SEO Friendly URL
Studies have found that the First 3-5 words in the URL are given more weight. So do the same.
Have you ever noticed that you always like the neat and clean, easy to read and understand Post Titles?
Same happens in the case of the URL of your Articles.
Use your Targeted Keyword in the URL, I suggest you start your URL with the Keyword only. That’s not mandatory, but that is more preferable nowadays.
DO NOT WRITE URL LIKE THIS, look at the highlighted part of the image.
I wrote this article a few days back, and my main Keyword was “Professional Email Subject Lines Examples”, and the title was Get More Sales by knowing Professional Email Subject Lines Examples.
But unknowingly I wrote very lengthy URL of that Article, so do not do like this. Don’t include irrelevant keywords in the URL.
Instead, I should write the URL “Professional Email Subject Lines Examples“
Always write a short URL including the Main Keyword.
#4. Start Post Title with Main/Targeted Keyword
The title of Your Article should start with Targeted Keyword, as your title tag is the most important factor for On-Page SEO.
This is not a fixed rule that you have to follow, but it is considered the best Practice to Rank No.1 on Google Search Results.
Here is the Example of how you can use this method,
See, how I have written my Title for this Article, You can also write like this.
Simply Start Title With Keyword and see the magic.
#5. Image Optimisation using ALT Text
Image Optimisation means You should write the main or targeted keyword in ALT Text column while you are about to paste any image in Article.
At least two Image file name should include the main keyword and that can be done using ALT Text.
This is exactly how you can do Image Optimisation.
Image Optimisation helps Google to Know what your page is about which helps in Google Ranking.
#6. Adding Modifiers to Your Title
What are Modifiers?
Modifiers are the simple words that people add on to the main keyword when trying to find more relevant results in search results. Modifiers are also known as Adjectives, Slangs, questions, verbs etc.
But you must know where to use, how to use and when to use modifiers in your Post Title.
Some of the Famous and Best Modifiers are:
- Brand Names: If you run an e-commerce store then do not forget to use your brand name. Like, ABC clothes are the best clothes.
- Current Year: “2018”, “2017” etc. Add them in Title.
- Best: Use like “Best Android Mobile Phones”.
You can find more Modifiers on the Internet also.
#8. Use Multimedia(Images, Videos etc in Article)
Images are a great and easy way to understand anything. That is why many Bloggers and Influencers started using Infographics. This is one of the Best technique in On-Page SEO Checklist.
You must Use Images and Videos on your Articles, that interest the users and visitor spend more time on your blog.
Bounce rate reduces by using Images and your ranking increases in google results.
A study has found that more than 70% of Internet users in India, watch YouTube when they surf the internet. Because it is very easy to understand by the Videos and Images.
Our mind is programmed for remembering the Images not the text much, that is why I am using the Images in this Article also.
#9. Using Outbound Links in Articles is also one of the good factors in On-Page SEO Checklist.
When I started my blog, in the initial phase I was not aware of what Outbound Links are.
Outbound LInks are those Links which let you move outside of your blog and lend you on some other website/blog.
How to Use Outbound Links?
We have to give the Links of some other Bloggers Article that is related to our Article.
OutBound Linking is a White Hat SEO Strategy which tells google about the quality info our page has. Hence, it helps in getting a higher rank on Google.
It also helps in increasing the Domain Authority(DA) of our Blog/Website. So, use Outbound Links as much as you can.
I hope I am doing well in explaining On-Page SEO Checklist to You guys, yes or no? Give review or comment in comment section.
#10. Use INTERNAL Links in Article
Internal Links are those links which let the visitors remain on our blog/website for a long time.
Use 2-5 Internal Links in Every New Article.
Wikipedia uses more internal links, even more than 30 internal links sometimes.
The arrow showing the Internal Link Example of my other Articles. Have a look.
When we give the links to other articles from our blog which user may like to read, these links tend the visitors to visit some other page of our Blog.
By doing this visitors spend much time on our Blog/Website which helps in reducing the Bounce rate of our website.
So, our ranking improves in Google Search Results.
#11. Wrap Up Subheadings in H2 Tags
Do you know about the use of Keyword in H2 tag?
If not, then let me tell You including your target keyword in the H2 tag, gets you some benefits in Search Engine Results.
Here is an Example of the H2 tag and Keyword in H2 tags.
Google Crawlers reads the main Headings, Subheadings, h3, and even h4 tags. Because Headings gives the quick report to Google Robots about what type of information your page has.
Google bots do not read the full article, they only read the heading, subheading, first paragraph(200 max words), and obviously the conclusion.
So, use the Targeted Keyword in the H2 tags or in Subheadings to get great results.
#12. Use Mobile Friendly Design | Main Point in On-Page SEO Checklist
If your website/blog is still not mobile friendly, then my friend you are going to vanish out of the Google Search Results doesn’t matter how good your SEO is.
Google, in 2015, officially declared that mobile-friendly websites will be given more preference in the search results than that of other websites.
Google also penalized the mobile-unfriendly websites in 2015, and more websites will be down in the future if they will not follow the guidelines.
My Blog Mobile friendly Test, see results.
I recommend You to use Responsive Design for making mobile-friendly websites.
Have a Query: How to Check out if my website is mobile-friendly or not?

So, let me clear one thing to you, you must publish long articles on your blog. Writing long articles can give you a boost in the ranking.
Content over 1500 words perform better in search results.
But according to Backlinko, you should aim for more than 1900 words per article. Longer content helps you rank better for your targeted keyword.
#14. Check Site Speed: Boost Up Site Speed– Key factor in On-Page SEO Checklist
Imagine you are going to buy your favorite headphones. But that e-commerce site sucks in speed and let you wait for payment and all things.
More chances are you become irritated and you will never lend on that site.
Same for all types of blogs and websites, visitors do not want to face “page loading”, definitely they will look for your competitors. And this is how we can lose a lot of traffic and sales too.
Do not forget, keep your page loading speed less than 5 seconds, otherwise visitors will not re-visit your website(According to a Study).
Just take a break from your hectic work schedule, and Check Website Speed Now, Click on this button RIGHT NOW to check Speed.
Google, officially declared that page loading speed is an SEO ranking signal. Google said that if you are not optimizing website speed then you are going to lose your visitors and hence traffic.

But I am sure that You would not have listened enough about Transition Words and LSI Keywords.
Transition Words are words like ‘most importantly’, ‘because’, ‘therefore’, or ‘beside that’.
Transition Words makes your content more readable, as these words give direction to your readers.
These words do not affect the ranking directly but improve the readability and structure of the text. Which helps in engaging the user for more time on the website.
This technique decreases the Bounce rate and helps in improving the ranking.
LSI Meaning: LSI Keywords
LSI(Latent Semantic Indexing) are those words which are very similar to the Original Keyword you are targeting for ranking.
These keywords are semantically related to each other and commonly found together within a single topic.
People have a belief that LSI Keywords are synonyms to Targeted Keyword, but that’s not the reality.
Let me give the Real Example that every person knows.
When you search for something on Google, you always see a Line, “Searches related to” and you see a lot of other queries related to your query.
So, the keywords related to your keywords are LSI Keywords.
You can get more traffic by using LSI Keywords because different people search differently.
EXAMPLE: Suppose you have to Buy Apple iPhone X 64Gb.
See what people search to buy Apple iPhone X 64Gb:
These all are the LSI Keywords.
So, make sure to use the important LSI Keyword in your Article. I have also used LSI Keywords in my On-Page SEO Checklist Article here.
